Mirage IV 2008

Roland Laborie, Jean Pierre Bourgeois and team produce amazing stuff and they’ve done it again. Bigger and more detailed than anything before, the french bomber is imaculate inside and out. The fully 3D cockpit is immersive and full of systems while  the impressive effects and top frame rates keep you happy in spot view. If you like the virtual smell of jet fuel, this is probably your best fix. Download the two part file from Avsim.

Savoia Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero

It was the most important Italian bomber of World War II, this tough three-engined aircraft established a reputation that contrasted with most Italian weapons of the day, and it was flown with courage and skill. The aircraft may be ugly on the outside but inside there is nothing but beautiful work. This is just a fantastic piece of freeware from Manuele Villa. Koolhoven FK58

This beauty is another great plane from Mike (Oldliner) Migaud. Lovely exterior and the fully 3D interior is an even nicer placer to be. Gentle flight dynamics make this little warbird a lot of fun to all sim abilities. Members of Sim Outhouse can download the plane, for others the filename is FK58.zip =)

Vought F-8 (FN) Crusader

Roland Laborie and team have produced some excellent planes, how I forgot to add this one I don’t know. One of the best packages available. A great exterior model, fabulous fully 3D cockpit and nifty features such as a flying partner via the panel! Great fun. You can get this package (and I suggest you do) from the Avsim library.

Robert Sanderson’s Hawker Hurricane IID ‘Tin Opener’

Robert Sanderson’s work has been increasingly hard to find but certainly worth the effort. Not only is this plane of the most detailed models availible within this simulator it also sounds just right and has a complete joy to fly. Also included in the auto-installer package is some desert scenery and some example flights. If you have the power to run this beast smoothly in virtual cockpit of exterior view I highly suggest you do. Head over to Sim Outhouse and get counting the 3D modelled rivets!

Roland Laborie’s Mirage 2000

Roland Laborie has produced some amazing packages for flight sim and this is another classic. There are two packages availible, one covering a single EC varient and the an update covering 4 planes with updates to the flight dynamics and more eye candy - so if you’re really into it you can get the lot! Sublime cockpit, exterior, effects… a wonderful package, it beats a lot of payware - especially the heads up display which is clear as day.
